what is the difference between asking for something in a prayer and asking for a sign? i asked peter this the other day ... asking for something in a prayer is asking and leaving it up to the lord to answer in whatever way he chooses. asking for a sign is pitting your will against the will of our father. the book of enos is a remarkable lesson about prayer. there are times in our lives when we have a come to jesus moment. it happens more than once. we realize that we must come to terms with the reality of who we are, what we are doing, what direction we are moving in. it's the "wrestle" before God. we realize the smallness of who we are and the self-centeredness that we employ. when we can bring ourselves into line with what is really important, the fight or "wrestle" is over. ahh, the lesson of journal keeping. contained in the short story of 7 men. what do we miss by the lack of information given in the records kept by jarom, omni, amaron, chemish, abinadom and amaleki? are we keeping good journals? are we recording our life history and the lessons of life we learn?
